Planting the Seeds of My Teaching Journey

Over the past 15 weeks, I have been student teaching at the Selinsgrove Area High School. The last 15 weeks have been filled with some fun and rewarding experiences, but also some challenges.

During this time, I have learned so much about what it truly means to be a teacher. Going into student teaching, I knew it would be a learning experience, but I did not realize just how much I would grow both personally and professionally. Each day brought something new, whether it was teaching a lesson, helping a student understand a concept, or figuring out how to handle unexpected situations in the classroom.

One of the most rewarding parts of my experience was building relationships with the students. Getting to know them, their personalities, and how they learn best made teaching more meaningful. It was exciting to see students start to understand material and gain confidence in themselves. Those small moments made a big impact on me and reminded me why I chose this career path.

Of course, student teaching also came with its challenges. There were times when lessons did not go as planned, or when classroom management was more difficult than expected. At times, it felt overwhelming trying to balance planning, teaching, and learning all at once. However, these challenges helped me grow the most. They taught me to be flexible, patient, and willing to adjust when things do not go perfectly.

Throughout these 15 weeks, I also learned the importance of preparation and organization. Having a plan is important, but being able to adapt is just as important. I began to feel more confident in my abilities and more comfortable taking on the role of a teacher in the classroom.

Looking back, this experience has truly helped me plant the seeds for my future career. I have grown in my confidence, my teaching abilities, and my understanding of what it means to support students. While I still have a lot to learn, I feel more prepared and excited to continue this journey.

Overall, student teaching has been an unforgettable experience that has shaped me into a stronger and more confident future educator. I am grateful for the opportunity and all of the lessons it has taught me, and I am excited to continue growing in my teaching journey.
